About Us

Brighton Death Collective is a peer-led, volunteer run organisation based in Brighton and Hove, East Sussex, UK.

Our aim is to share low to no cost resources, information, and dialogue around grief, death and dying processes, and bereavement It is our belief that the practical resources around end-of-life planning should be accessible to all, regardless of income. We are queer and neurodivergent led, centring the unique intersections of queerness and disability within the conversations about death care and the accessibility of resources.

We are explicitly anti-capitalist, anti-colonial, and anti-racist in our ethos and approach to this work. We are always open to feedback and new ideas about how we can best show up in solidarity with those whose marginalisations are different than our own.

At the core of our work, we see Brighton Death Collective as a place in which we can acknowledge, uplift, and contribute to the work already being done in our community around death and grief. In engaging with us, whether in person or online, we hope that you are able to feel more aware of and connected to the mycelial network of death workers, grievers, and allies in our community.

To this end, we have an events calendar that highlights different death-related events happening in the East Sussex area. Some of these events are run by us, some are run by others, and we hope to have some events in the future that will be co-facilitated by ourselves alongside other death workers.

Thank you for being here with us.
